Job Description:
Our Platinum business mines, processes and refines the entire range of platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium. We are the world’s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world, from vehicle fuel cells to jewelry; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support in organising site visits and events, including developing communications collateral
- Support the communications manager in ensuring brand compliance across the operation, including the branding of Platinum-sponsored community projects
- Provide support with the development and implementation of internal communication campaigns, employee surveys and other initiatives
- Exercise judgment on a wide range of issues and projects that could impact Platinum or Group activities
- Deliver benchmarked communication solutions in support of group issues
- Production (writing and editing) of content for both print and electronic communication
- Review all external publications and technical papers to ensure consistency of message and quality of output
- Obtain information, coordinate projects, clarify issues, make referrals, and process requests directed through Corporate Affairs & Sustainable impact
- Interviews experts on potential and existing issues, to gather information which will be shared through internal and external communication channels
- Develop factually and technically accurate research data and materials
- Work directly with highest levels of organisation management and with various functional heads to coordinate short term projects, which generate effective relations
- The Communication Specialist is responsible for actively identifying and managing issues and short-term projects that could affect the operational requirements and outputs of Anglo American Platinum through evaluation, research, and proactively managing those
Job Requirements:
- Track record in issuing briefs
- Working knowledge of digital platforms such as web, apps and social media
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in the development and implementation of integrated communication plans in a complex environment
- Excellent research and interviewing skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Experience in engaging community stakeholders, or extensive community communication experience would be an advantage
- Proven experience of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and senior management
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in working with different cultures and business environments
- Experience in dealing successfully with external stakeholders
- 3 years’ experience in leading and supporting the delivery of effective communications strategies
- Mining industry experience a plus, but not essential
- Degree / Diploma in Communications, Journalism
