Job Description:
Our Platinum business mines, processes and refines the entire range of platinum group metals (PGMs): platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium and osmium. We are the world’s leading primary producer of PGMs, which have a range of specialised applications that improve lives across the world, from vehicle fuel cells to jewelry; dentistry to glassmaking; pacemakers to petroleum refining.
Job Responsibilities:
- Active engagement across the operation to identify communications opportunities
- Through interpreting strategy, drive existing and potential issues that could impact business directives and outcomes
- Provide support to teams across the business with their communication and engagement responsibilities in support of specific strategic objectives and projects
- Responsible, in collaboration with the comms manager and other team members, in ensuring quality content across all channels, including the community newspaper, newsletters, Engage in compliance of deadlines
- Manage risk assessment and highlight projects or issues that require re-engineering or refocusing
- Partner with Corporate Communications to support Platinum and Group initiatives
- Gather, prepare and gain approval of content for our channels such as Engage, newsletters, community newspapers, Eureka, website, etc.
- The Communication Specialist is responsible for actively identifying and managing issues and short-term projects that could affect the operational requirements and outputs of Anglo American Platinum through evaluation, research, and proactively managing those
- Provides support to the communications manager in ensuring alignment and consistency with the development and implementation of communication strategies, campaigns, events, and the management of communications channels (both internal and external)
- Identify and manage reputational risk on behalf of Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Impact by putting mitigating programmes in place
Job Requirements:
- Track record in issuing briefs
- Working knowledge of digital platforms such as web, apps and social media
- Experience in engaging community stakeholders, or extensive community communication experience would be an advantage
- Proven experience of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and senior management
- Remains abreast of the latest developments in technology and social media to use it to the benefit of the business
- Excellent research and interviewing skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in the development and implementation of integrated communication plans in a complex environment
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in working with different cultures and business environments
- Experience in dealing successfully with external stakeholders
- Degree / Diploma in Communications, Journalism
- Postgraduate qualification an advantage
- 3 years’ experience in leading and supporting the delivery of effective communications strategies
- Mining industry experience a plus, but not essential
