Department of Health Vacancies North West – Professional Nurse

Job Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive nursing service in the hospital and wards according to scope of practice • Help with supervision, performance and evaluating junior staff members • Implement appropriate measures and system to ensure quality patient care • Ensure the implementation of, and adherence to Patient Rights Charter and Batho Pele Principles • Educate staff and quality patient care • Work closely with the community • Keep concise and legible records and ensure that Nurses do likewise • Manage medication • Participate in the quality improvement programme • Monitor admission and discharge criteria • Facilitate and monitor patient’s health education programme • Facilitate effective discharge process • Ensure proper record-keeping

Job Requirements:

Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council in terms of Government Notice 425 (i.e diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows a registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional Nurse • Current proof of registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse must be attached •  Appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing • Understanding of Nursing legislation and related legal and ethical Nursing Practices
