Job Description:

St Alban’s College, one of South Africa’s leading independent boys’ high schools, seeks to employ an HOD for our Geography Department. The position is an opportunity for a senior teacher who is extremely experienced, talented, and creative and who will foster enthusiasm for Geography and maintain a high standard of achievement.

Job Requirements:

• Be prepared to commit to upholding the core values and Christian ethos of the school.
• At least 5 years of experience teaching the IEB curriculum, from Grade 8 to Grade 12
• Registered with SACE.
• Be a committed, dynamic educationalist, with an innovative use of technology to enhance learning and have a practical approach to the subject
• Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Have evidence of clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register before assuming the position.
• Be experienced as a Matric marker, with Matric IEB or GDE work experience;
• Teach creatively, embracing cognitive education and a willingness to use technology in their teaching methodology, including GIS.
• Excellent communication skills and classroom management
• A passion for education and the desire to motivate and stimulate higher-order thinking
• An ability to contribute to the extra-curricular program within the school would be an advantage
• Have a postgraduate degree in Geography;
• Have a willingness to become fully involved in the life of the school
