Job Description:
A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurses (Theatre) Experienced based at Life Fourways Hospital, reporting to Melody Bedingfield, Theatre Manager Qual. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the surgical team to perform surgical procedures on patients successfully and to ensure that the patient receives optimal care in accordance with company and hospital strategic objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the disposal of medical waste in order to effectively control infection
- Ensuring the correct use of equipment and instrumentation by educating and supervising staff on the correct utilization of the equipment
- Ensuring equipment is charged according to policy
- Recovery of patients post operatively and handing over of recovery patients to the wards
- Ensure the theatre team works according to the scope of practice
- Managing stock by participating in regular stock taking and controlling of the consignment stock in accordance with the hospital (local) policy
- Obtaining the correct information of the patient pre-operatively and intra-operatively to effectively nurse the patient in the recovery room
- Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and complying with ISO requirements
- Providing theatre specific training and assessing the competence of staff
- Ensuring accurate charging by managing theatre clocking time
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient information during recovery
- Ensuring that the patient is comfortable and assist the anesthetist during recovery period in the recovery room
- Give feedback to the unit manager in order to assess optimal performance
- Assist the Unit Manager to correctly monitor the normal and overtime hours

Qualification & Experience:
- Registration with SANC
- Driver’s license and own transport
- General Nursing Degree / Diploma
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
- Candidate must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
- Computer proficiency would be an advantage
- Relevant experience and technical skill to meet the critical outputs
