Job Description:
The Scrub Sister will render and promote cost effective, safe quality patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies with a specific focus on the total management of patients. The incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs, is a role model in the delivery of evidence based care and will actively participate in Clinical Governance
Job Responsibilities:
- Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities
- Attend handover of report at shift commencement
- Promote and maintains good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors
- Contribute to the holistic care of patients
- Service excellence for all patients
- Promote patient of health and wellbeing
- Superior patient nursing care
- Economic utilization of hospital resources
- Adherence to Netcare policies
- Practice the principles of infection prevention and all Standard precautions
Job Requirements:
- Ability to produce work of a high-quality standard by accurately checking processes and tasks
- Ability to work effectively and co-operatively with others by establishing and maintaining good working
- Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure by handling stress in an acceptable way to personnel and the organisation.
- Ability to prioritize by managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed effectively
- Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Registered with The South African Nursing Council
- Matric
- Previous experience in a Private Hospital Environment in theatre will be advantageous
- Liaison with doctor
- Must have a Diploma in General Nursing
- Post Basic Qualification will be advantageous
