Job Description:
takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Automation Project Manager to join our Supply Chain Development team in Johannesburg.
Job Responsibilities:
- Management and control of costs for specific projects
- Analysing and implementing new automation within the distribution center operations, under the guidance of the Automation Applications Engineer
- Designing and implementing mechanization infrastructure to either support the business growth or bring optimization to an existing process
- Procurement of equipment to support operations and processes
- Stakeholder engagement with Operational staff
- Ability to draft request for proposal (RFP) documents
- Supplier engagement and management in accordance with contractually agreed terms
Job Requirements:
- Working knowledge of complex automation projects
- Focused, self-motivated and target driven; determined to succeed.
- Good interpersonal skills – works well with others, able to motivate a complex team with diverse skills
- Strong technical knowledge of systems, electrical and mechanical components
- Excellent project management skills, both planning and document control
Qualification & Experience:
- Previous experience in design and execution of production plants, mining infrastructure or process automation equipment.
- Engineering qualification – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in a project space in Distribution Centres, production environment or warehousing on a large scale with complex operations would be advantageous
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
