Job Description:

he Department of Public Law, within the Faculty of Law, invites applications for an academic post specializing in marine and environmental law. The post is advertised at the level of Associate Professor / Professor with appointment as soon as possible.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a research profile and publication output commensurate for level of appointment.
  • Contributing to university, faculty and departmental activities and administrative responsibilities appropriate to the level of appointment.
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the Department of Public Law in international and domestic marine and environmental law as required by the Department, including courses offered outside of the Faculty of Law.
  • Providing academic leadership and service in the Institute of Marine and Environmental Law and in the Department of Public Law generally, including curriculum development, appropriate to the level of appointment.
  • Supervising Master’s and doctoral students (as appropriate to the level of appointment).

Job Requirements:

  • Lecturing experience in marine and environmental law or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Evidence of administrative experience; and
  • Demonstrable capacity to supervise at a postgraduate level;
  • A doctoral degree or equivalent level of scholarship specialising in marine and environmental law;
  • Track record of socially responsive activities, public and professional service
  • A strong and consistent record of publications in marine and environmental law appropriate to the level of Associate Professor;
