Job Description:
The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health is recruiting a Research Nurse for the SAMRC Unit on Child and Adolescent Health to carry out research in this full-time 12-month contract post. The incumbent will be based at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital. The main purpose of this position is to carry out nursing duties at selected facilities in Cape Town and Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital as part of ongoing research projects conducted in the unit
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventory of study consumables for clinical care and investigations
- Performing quality control of case report forms (CRFs)
- Management of lab results and referrals
- Performing clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, obtaining urine samples etc.
- Providing ongoing information and counseling to participants and/or their family members
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency with REDCap
- Experience with obtaining induced sputum in children
- Good Clinical Practice Certificate
- Fluency in English and IsiXhosa
- Demonstrable leadership ability
- Experience in paediatric work
- Counselling skills
Qualification & Experience:
- Previous experience in HIV and TB
- Computer literacy
- SANC registration as an Enrolled or Registered/Professional Nurse
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- 3 years experience in Primary Health Care and or Pediatrics
