Job Description:
The department wants to fill a vacancy at the level of lecturer within the broad area of geology, mineralogy and geometallurgy; this position is based at DFC. The demonstrated potential ability to contribute towards the research within CIMERA will be considered a benefit.
Job Responsibilities:
- Be prepared to travel between campuses should the need to arise.
- Undertake research, and present and publish the results.
- Be able to design, execute and evaluate assessments.
- Be able to lecture and teach large groups at undergraduate level.
- Supervise postgraduate students.
- Be able to prepare and deliver undergraduate practical laboratory sessions.
Job Requirements:
- Strong commitment to good teaching and research
- Competent to lecture geology to undergraduate students
- Excellent verbal and communication skills in English.
- Published scientific article(s) in accredited subject-related journal(s).
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in handling large classes.
- Experience in administrative and laboratory organization.
- Experience in working with student assistants, laboratory demonstrators and tutors.
- Postgraduate supervisory and teaching experience.
- Experience in Blackboard (or related E-teaching platform) and blended learning.
- Preferably a PhD degree or in final stages of submission.
